About
Project Growth
Our Story
Project Growth was established in Ballarat in late 2021, when three friends saw a gap in the lives of young males living with disabilities. Founders Sam, James and Bryson at the time were all supporting young males transitioning from finishing school, where all social outlets had been stripped from them, to programs with wide, but not specific goals or targeted interests. The boys had noticed during this transition period that a lot of their participants were struggling to find confidence and enjoyment within themselves and these programs.
Sam, James and Bryson, all being young males themselves, used their knowledge and passion to set up the Project Growth program to give all young males the opportunity to connect and form friendships with like minded individuals in a meaningful, engaging and inclusive environment. The Project Growth team take great pride in their work which has generated into great success within the Ballarat community resulting in over 60 participants partaking weekly and over a 98% retention rate. The confidence our participants have gained from our program has assisted many individuals to gain employment, to live more independently and to get out into the community and grow and achieve as individuals.

The Why
Project Growth wanted to create a
tailor made program that appeals to the interests
and passions of young males living with disabilities. Founders Sam, James & Bryson felt
there were too many individuals that were
unable to find a program that fulfilled their own
passions and interests with opportunities to connect with other young males like themselves. Too many young males living with disabilities lose
friendships once they leave school and become
very isolated and lonely. Project Growth’s vision
is to give everyone a place of belonging, learn
new skills and meet lifelong friends. Our team is
very excited to be expanding to now offer these
same opportunities to young males living in both
Ballarat and Melbourne communities.

The How
Project Growth offers a wide range of activities
to young males living with disabilities in a socially
inclusive environment. Not only are their peers
young males, their support workers are too! This
creates a fun environment that is fast paced and full of energy with role models that participants can relate to on a more personal level. All our support workers have been uniquely trained to offer supports that promote friendship, mateships, fun and growth. Everyone is treated with respect and encouraged to join in all opportunities that are presented to them no matter how big or small. With physical activities, sport and technology being a heavy focus in our offerings to the individuals we support, we really do have something that will entertain and benefit everyone whilst encouraging all participants to be socially inclusive with each other.
